Three children believed to have died after the recent floods in Douala have been found alive.

The children who were identified as Lidel, Divan and Patrick aged three, four and eight were rescued by some first aid workers and are presently receiving treatment at the Health Centre in Bepanda.

The youngsters got missing during the June 20, 2015 floods in Douala spurred by a heavy downpour. The devastating impact of the floods was due to the poor drainage systems as houses and garbage blocked gutters forcing the waters to overflow into the streets.

The three children were presented on Friday June 26 2015 to an elated Governor of the Littoral region, Joseph Beti Assomo.

In the meantime, an inter-ministerial delegation will meet in Douala over the weekend to assess the damage caused by the floods.

Top on the agenda will be discussions on how to improve the town’s drainage system which has been obstructed by domestic and industrial waste coupled with disordered construction of houses.
