Fighting Ebola: A narrow corridor opened between Lagos and Yaounde

Two ministers; the Minister of Transport, Prof Robert Nkili and the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda jointly decided to open a limited corridor for the transportation of goods only between Lagos and Doula-Yaounde.

The decision was taken after all risk-factors were examined.

It was realised that the goods from Nigeria are not being packaged there; Lagos being just a distribution point.

That notwithstanding, special prescriptions were given to the General Manager of the company notably the need to disinfect the packages before they are boarded in the plane.

These strict measures should be respected to the letter, according to the Minister of Public Health who argues that health is primordial to all other economic considerations.

The decision to open this limited corridor was based on the fact that the cargo transportation company has only three persons on board: the pilot, co-pilot and a medical staff.

However, officials of the Aeroport du Cameroon were advised to ensure a strict respect of the prescriptions and to quarantine any person who is suspected of any form of fever or cold.
