Fighting Boko Haram: Population in communion with the military

Cameroon’s Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana has visited some supermarkets where donations for Cameroon’s military and other victims of the war against Boko Haram are being assembled.

Businessmen in Cameroon agreed to place boxes at the entrance to major supermarkets and shops in Yaounde and Douala for benevolent Cameroonians to drop whatever assistance they deem necessary.

Since then, a number of Cameroonians of goodwill have been reacting through donations and words of encouragement in a register that has been made available.

During his first outing over the weekend, the Minister of Trade saluted the kind gestures coming from the heart and confirmed that the operation has effectively taken-off without any major hitches.

Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana entreated those in charge of the exercise to put in place effective control mechanisms in order that the men in the war front receive what they deserve.

Cyrille Nzali Ngessi, a businessman and one of the flagbearers of the operation noted that some donors willingly sign the register while others prefer anonymity.

Most frequently donated items include bags of rice, toiletries, non-alcoholic beverages and other non-perishable food items.
