Grégoire Owona Grégoire Owona

Members of the consultative committee and monitoring of social dialogue held a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, to propose and find appropriate solutions to the concerns of citizens of Cameroon on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Yaoundé.

The payment of social rights to former employees of the liquidated or privatized state companies was one of the most discussed points at the meeting chaired by Grégoire Owona.

According to the president of the Trade Union Confederation of Workers in Cameroon, Jean Marie Zambo Amougou, “There has been progress on the former employees of the state in terms of legal rights. Regarding reintegration premium, three months were paid on 12 months. It was therefore a question of assessing progress after one year. "

He later added that, "what we claim as solutions are all not applicable for now. As for the trade unionists subsidy problem, the Government agrees that the principle of subsidizing union centers should be attained although it’s yet to be implemented."
