Fertilizer distributors learn best practices

The Fertilizer Sub-sector Reform Programme drilled regional actors in Yaounde recently.

Distributors of fertilizers in the country have sharpened their skills on how to advise farmers on its use for higher agricultural yields.

A one-day capacity building workshop organized by the Fertilizer Sub Sector Reform Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) held in Yaounde on Thursday July 3.

The objective was to allow regional agro dealers in fertilizers to master the stakes and challenges of the fertilizer sector in government’s second-generation agricultural policy and develop an agricultural entrepreneurial spirit in the actors as well as sharpen their skills on storage techniques of the product.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Regional Delegate of MINADER for the Centre, Gabriel Mbolo, said fertilizer is a vital component in enhancing sustainable agriculture and actors must master its use for better output.

The training was in line with the programme’s missions of ensuring an effective mechanism in the importation and distribution of fertilizers and that its demand equates supply in type, place of supply as well as ensuring its efficient use for an improved agricultural output.
