Feicom to celebrates 40 years anniversary

As a prelude to the events which is scheduled for Saturday, the Director-general met the press on Monday. On 5th December, Feicom, the company deemed as the 'Bank of Commons' will celebrate its 40th birthday. The road travelled so far has not been easy for this organization restructured by a presidential decree in 2006.

Responsible for accompanying the communes in their projects of development and improvement of the living conditions of populations, it is today the secular arm of the State for funding of the decentralization process, and so far, Feicom is particularly called to centralize and redistribute the communal surcharges (ACC) and other municipal taxes subject to equalization as is the case with the annual timber royalty, automobile stamp, duty provided for by the law on local taxation of December 15, 2009.

As suggested by its Chief Executive yesterday, during his exchange with the press, more than 500 billion in terms of resources made to municipalities and more than 300 billion of financing of municipal projects have been mobilized and these resources are in constant increase.

For Philippe Camille Akoa, this 40th anniversary celebration under the high patronage of the president of the Republic on the theme "Feicom: 40 years at the service of local development "comes at a time where the Fund is now at the age of maturity. He welcomed the fact that this company has "fit into the landscape of institutional reforms and today claims its place as an institution at the heart of the financing of decentralization."

All these things were made possible by the will of the Government. Beyond the resources collected for Commons, Philippe Camille Akoa said the increase in the level of representation of local authorities and decentralized within decision-making bodies, particularly at the level of the Board of Directors.

As for the Chapter of planned activities, there are the photographic exhibition which will give a show on the main achievements through 374 communes and urban communities in Cameroon. This celebration will also lead to the laying of the first stone of the building-seat of Feicom on Thursday.
