Fecafoot honours Lionesses

Lionesses Lionesses

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) organized a ceremony to honour the Lionesses at the headquarters of the association in Yaoundé yesterday.

Out of the 23 players, twelve honoured the invitation of the Chairman of FECAFOOT Standards Committee, Joseph Owona.

In a simple ceremony, there was a review of highlights of Lionesses’ qualifying and involvement in the Women's World Cup, Canada, 2015.

"Your preparation was modest. But with zeal and immense effort, you went to the World Cup. You are now back with the laurels of glory. Indomitable Lionesses, you were glowing,” said Joseph Owona.

The Lionesses were presented with a special bonus incentive of FCFA 60 million ‘all taxes included’. Carl Enow Ngachu was honoured by the attention and appraisal rendered. The Captain, Christine Manie Patience, saw it as another way of motivation for her teammates. She called for more hard work.

However, the players were not happy about the people listed for a share in the FCFA 60 million. "I do not agree with this distribution. Where were all those people whose names were mentioned?" said one payer angrily. The amount obtained by each was undisclosed.

The bonus for participation amounted to 375,000 dollars (FCFA 225,000 000). The knockout qualifying premium was 125,000 dollars (FCFA 75 million). This makes a total of 500 000 dollars (FCFA 300 million) to be given by FIFA to FECAFOOT. The money will be used for the development of women's football.

The Women’s World Cup, Canada 2015 final is scheduled on Sunday in Montreal.
