FEICOM celebrates 40 years of existence

Thursday, December 4, 2014 was marked by the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the new headquarters of this institution.

“FEICOM’s 40 years in the service of local development" is the theme chosen by Special Council Support Fund (FEICOM) to celebrate its 40 years of existence.

Thursday, December 4, 2014 was marked by the laying of the first stone of the new headquarters of this institution at the Mimboman neighborhood in Yaounde.

The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Finance, who took the opportunity to commend the actions of this organization, the Cameroonian Public and urban communities.

"The results obtained by Feicom fully justifies a celebration of this nature under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, for not only to congratulate the corporate bodies, officers and staff but also invite this highly useful organization for the implementation of the national decentralization policy to continue action and to adopt all the instruments needed to achieve this mission satisfactorily. We are confident that the resources available to them will help by means of additional taxes to pay to municipalities over FCFA 500 billion during the last eight years ... " Alamine Ousmane Mey said.

The activities of Feicom began with a press conference held Monday, November 24, 2014 at the headquarters of the organization in Mimboman neighborhood in Yaounde.

A conference-debate on the theme "FEICOM 40 years in the service of local development: memories, Assessment, Challenges and Prospects" was held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 by the Directorate General of the institution in the auditorium of the City Council of Yaoundé. Led by 10 experts in local development, it was intended to "better enhance the role and contribution of the organization to the development of Cameroon's Councils".

Wednesday, December 3, was devoted to the dedication of the Golden Book of Feicom at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde. The celebrations marking the 40 years of Feicom ended this Friday, December 5, 2014 with a gala chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the institution.
