The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has signed seven conventions with municipal councils in the country to construct seven synthetic stadia in their localities.

The conventions endorsed some localities with Mayors on Monday, November 23, 2015.

Thus, Bagante, Bafia, Nkoumou, Sangmelima, Ngoundere, Bamenda, Bafia will see the construction of modern stadia.

The agreements indicated that the construction works will be financed both by the municipal councils and the Cameroon Football Federation.

According to FECAFOOT President, Tombi a Roko Sidiki, the construction of these stadia is in line with FECAFOOT’s four-year plan to develop sporting facilities in the ten regions of the country.

He added that these stadia, to be constructed in strict compliance with FIFA requirements will help revive local football in the country that has been dormant due to lack of infrastructures and finance.

The feasibility studies will start in January 2016 and end by June 2016.

One of the signatories, the Mayor of Ngoundere, Idrisou Abana, like the seven other Mayors lauded the initiative. He believes it will help exploit local talents in the country.

The signing ceremony was carried out in the presence of four Cabinet Ministers and other top authorities in the sports sector.
