FECAFOOT: What FIFA thinks of the election process

Fifa officials Fifa officials

In a statement released yesterday, the President of the Standardization Committee has provided guidelines for the ongoing standardization process in response to the correspondence from FIFA dated July 27, 2015 and signed by its Secretary General, Jérôme Valcke.

FECAFOOT Communiqué

The correspondence mentioned that:

1. FIFA notes that because of the rejection by 35% of the delegates and their appeal to the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration (CCA) National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon, the new attempt to adopt new Statutes of FECAFOOT failed at the Extraordinary General Meeting on June 2 2015.

2. FIFA admits perplexity at the course of events, to the extent that "the various amendments desired by some players of Cameroonian soccer had been taken into account."

3. "The rejection of the delegates voting against and their systematic use of CCA without using domestic remedies as required by the current statutes of FECAFOOT causing repetitive annulment decisions by that Chamber, suggests an obstructionism difficult to understand."

4. The Secretary General of FIFA (SG/FIFA) recalls that "the Executive Committee of FIFA has given the Normalisation Committee until September 30 2015 to ensure the adoption of the new constitution and to hold elections for new FECAFOOT leaders according to these new statutes."

5. "The FIFA took note of the new timetable that conforms to the time."

6. The SG / FIFA underlines that in case of failure of the implementation of the new schedule, there will be "no choice but to reenter the competent bodies of FIFA so that they take the adequate sanctions; the latter includes a likely suspension of FECAFOOT.”
