FECAFOOT: Tombi A Roko Sidiki seen as potential candidate

Almost all observers predicted from the beginning of the FECAFOOT electoral process, the final victory of Tombi A Roko Sidiki.

They were not wrong. The current SG of the national body of football in Cameroon looks set to succeed his mentor, Iya Mohammed, recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for embezzlement.

Although he has not formally applied for membership, should Mr Tombi apply, he would be seen as the potential candidate to be elected on the evening of September 28, 2015, the date announced for the federal election. The current SG (placed on administrative leave until the end of the elections) is also been accused of favouritism by the Normalisation Committee.

Emergence daily newspaper in its September 17, 2015, edition stated that pro Tombi have been voted as presidents in the various regions: Mohamadou Abbo in Adamawa, Saint Fabien Mvogo in the Centre, Joseph Issoufou in the East, Boubakari Bello in the Far North, Joseph Pierre Batamak in Littoral, Aboubakar Alim Konate in the North, Jean Jacques ZAM in South, Charles Mbella Moki southwest, Samuel Wembe in West and Christopher Kaba in Northwest.

Each region will send four delegates and this makes a total of 40 delegates already committed to the cause of Tombi. Also added to this, some of those who used to be his fiercest opponents have now supported him (David Mayebi, Antoine Essomba Eyenga and Alioum Aladji among others).

The royal path seems all mapped for Tombi A Roko Sidiki to become the new President of FECAFOOT.
