The former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development was interned at the CNPS Hospital in Yaoundé since the beginning of October 2015. The disease affecting Essimi Menye has finally been revealed.

In its issue of November 4, 2015, the Pan-African newspaper Jeune Afrique, said the former member of the government is suffering from a hernia. "Struck down by a hernia, Essimi Menye, Minister of Agriculture ousted Oct. 2, has spent two weeks in a hospital in Yaoundé, but may leave to join a cell in the ... Kondengui prison," informs Jeune Afrique.

Lying on a hospital bed close to a month, the pan-African newspaper informs us that the former member of IMF "used his networks for Biya to grant him permission to leave the country to receive treatment abroad, but the President refuses."

However, a report to the President of the Republic by the Minister of Health indicated that the former treasurer deserved a medical evacuation either abroad or in Sangmélima referral hospital.

Heard on January 13 by the Special Criminal Court under the Operation Epervier operation, the Cameroonian justice would not let Essimi Menye escape.

"The Cameroonian justice does not intend to let him go, because since the beginning of the anti-corruption operation in progress, half a dozen personalities pass between the cracks and hide in France, the United States or elsewhere," concludes Jeune Africa.

Among those fleeing, the newspaper mentioned: "Jean-Marie Assene Nkou (case of the presidential plane), Dieudonné Ambassa Zang (former Minister of Public Works), Jean-Marcel Dayas Mounoume (ex-CEO of the Port of Douala ), Patricia Daisy Ename (former Deputy Director of Finance of CRTV) and Justin Zeh Zeh (former Director of Finance Feicom)."
