Environmental hazards under check at Kribi Deep Seaport

The Minister of the Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, Hele Pierre has paid a working visit to the Kribi Deep Seaport complex.

The ministerial visit on 21st October 2014, was to evaluate the management of the environmental issues at the construction site in Grand Batanga, Kribi.

Accompanied by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of the Environment, Aboubakar Djalo, Minister Hele Pierre expressed satisfaction with the respect of the environmental safety measures set up.

He praised the engineers for effectively disposing of waste and entreated them to be more cautious in this direction.

The Environment Minister however noticed a setback in the quality of water available at the site.

In response to the water crisis, the engineers are already building a new bore hole.

Minister Hele Pierre called for a proper management of the environment, so as to protect the workers, local community and environment as a whole.
