Elysee unveils calendar for Hollande's visit in Cameroon

François Hollande François Hollande

On Saturday, June 27, at the steps of the Unity Palace in Yaounde, Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France in Cameroon, maintained the mystery around the official date of arrival in Yaoundé of François Hollande, president of the French Republic.

"I would not be able to give you more details on this visit, it is not the role of the ambassadors of France to give the programme. It comes from the services of the Presidency of the French Republic a few days in advance. We are preparing for this visit in an excellent atmosphere," Christine Robichon explained to the press.

Precisely, the press service of the French Presidency has just published the official calendar of the African mini-tour of the successor of Nicolas Sarkozy at Elysee.

After an interview with Manuel Valls, french Prime Minister and a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 1st July 2015, François Hollande is going to fly for an official working visit on Thursday 02 July to Cotonou where he will meet Thomas Yayi Boni, president of Benin. This will be a reunion between the two senior executives who were already less than three weeks ago at the Elysée Palace in Paris to discuss the fight against the Islamist sect Boko Haram...

The head of the french State is also expected in Luanda on the evening of the same Thursday, July 02, 2015. It will in principle be the night before meeting on Friday, July 03, José Eduardo, Angolan President. On the way back to Paris that same Friday 03 July 2015, the French president will make a stopover in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon.

For his first trip to Yaoundé, as a head of State, François Hollande will have a working session with Paul Biya, the president of the Republic of Cameroon. Subjects on the agenda of this meeting were not yet revealed.

But one can easily imagine that the two personalities will talk about topics related to the economy, politics and above all safety in the war which has lasted for 13 months against Boko Haram, the Nigerian terrorist sect .
