Police Police

According to the daily "Mutations" which reported the raid carried out between the localities «Stade Abega» and «Carrefour Ekounou" in Ekounou, searches were carried out and every individual arrested was required to present his national identity card (CNI) before each passage at a checkpoint. Those who did not present their ID cards were arrested.

A young girl expressed her worries in the columns of the newspaper: "my sister and I were going to the Ekounou market this morning. She was arrested though she had her identity card. I do not know why."

According to a source of the newspaper, it was around 3 o'clock in the morning that the police stormed the area. "I operate a call-box here all night. Yesterday morning, I saw uniformed men well armed. One would have thought that it was a real action movie. Taken by panic, I packed my goods and I returned to the House," said a young man to Mutations.

According to the newspaper, some police officers contacted suggested that it was a routine check, and they are just there to ensure security. "At 9:30 when the search was completed, life resumed its course on this stretch as usual."

Hundreds of people carried away by the forces of order were grouped together at the 15th district police station at Ekounou waiting to know their fate, concluded Mutations.
