Eight poachers arrested in Mbang

The fight against poaching is yielding positive results in the Eastern Region as eight poachers have been arrested in Mbang, in Kadey.

the arrest that was made on May 6, was after an operation initiated by the regional delegation of forests and the Eastern fauna in this department known for its high wildlife sanctuary.

These poachers were arrested with a 200kg booty protected species. Following their arrest, they were taken to the main prison in Batouri, where they await their fate.

The mission led by Alain Patrice Azemté Mbomo, head of the regional department of wildlife and protected areas to MINFOF / East, has thus primarily deployed in the Mbang forest area from April 30 to 6 May 2015.

This is the recrudescence of bush meat in the stalls, which put a flea in the ear of the team of eco-guards, who were supported by the BIR elements in Ketté. The duo stormed the forest in search of poachers with ultimately a result deemed significant by Djogo Toumouksala, regional delegate of MINFOR / East.

In addition to the arrest of the poachers, 200 kg of bushmeat was also seized. The booty consists of fully protected species such as elephants, giant pangolin and duiker, classified in category A.

In the process, the mission also seized seven motorcycles, 25 ammunition, four homemade weapons and ten machetes. The package was sent to Bertoua. Regarding the bushmeat, it was auctioned to the public by the regional delegation of forests and wildlife on the May 6.

For Djogo Toumouksala, such missions will intensify in other areas of the East with established wildlife potential. Especially at a time when the news on Ebola is no longer hot. Which makes it appear to poachers that vigilance is falling. They have to behave themselves, warns our interlocutor. The ultimate goal is to protect wildlife.
