Egypt supports Cameroon's fight against terrorism

The Minister Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Islamic World, Adoum Gargoum has received in audience the Egyptian Ambassador to Cameroon, Sherif Salah Eldin Elleithy.

During the one-hour audience both parties revisited the state of bilateral relations between Cairo and Yaounde.

Security issues plaguing both countries were also tabled for discussion. The Egyptian Ambassador told the press that Egypt is ready to support Cameroon in tackling its security challenges since the country had earlier on experienced a similar situation.

He described terrorism as a worldwide problem which is not common to Cameroon or Africa. To him terrorism, threatens the peace and security of almost every nation in the world.

Concerning relations between both countries, Ambassador Eldin Elleithy explained that their relationship has been cordial enough and dates back to the 1960’s.

Cameroon – Egypt cooperation ties should be recalled are multi-sectorial especially in areas like education, health and construction, amongst others.

Amongst projections for the year, the Ambassador of Egypt reiterated the holding of the Cameroon - Egyptian mixed Commission meeting scheduled for Cairo this 2015.
