Ebolowa braces up for Resurgence Cultural Fair

The Akiba Association has organized a two week cultural and economic fair in Ebolowa in the South region of Cameroon dubbed "Resurgence".

The first edition Resurgence cultural fair will be organized from 31st January to February to 11th March 2015 according to organizers.

The programme of cultural exhibition was presented to media men during a press café organized at the Saint Anastasie woods in Yaounde.

Mme Nyogo Giselle, main organizer of the Resurgence cultural fair told press men, that the code name of the fair described their determination to revamp Cameroon’s culture as part of the 2035 emergence plan.

The choice of Ebolowa to host the first edition of the jamboree was justified by its proximity to neighbouring countries like Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, which makes it a hub to make Cameroon’s cultural diversity. “It will be an occasion to market Ebolowa and make it known” she noted.

The organizing committee plans to organize round table conferences and educational workshops to empower young people and serve as an interface for them to meet employers and placement agencies. Musical artists and cultural dance groups will heat up the show every evening while traditional music will be given its deserved place in the heart of African tradition.

It will also be an occasion to encourage young people to pick up a trade in tourism and cultural development sectors which are so far underexploited in the country.

Responding to questions from journalists on the frequency of the event, Mme Nyogo Giselle said Resurgence will be an annual cultural rendez-vous to promote the emergence of the cultural sector.
