Ebola: Cameroon spared but stringent measures implemented

The government of Cameroon is on the vanguard against the spread of the Ebola fever although the country has been spared this far.

A number of measures have been put in place in case of any eventuality at a time when health officials are permanently on the watch out.

The announcement of two cases of the deadly fever in the Democratic Republic of Congo has even increased the fears of Cameroonians.

The government has closed its border with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and very stringent measures have been put in place to screen all peoples getting into the country by land, air and sea from infected countries.

There is also serious reflection on suspending all flights from countries where cases of Ebola have been confirmed.

The Ministry of Public Health is in permanent contact with all actors concerned in the fight against the fever.

A number of unofficial campaigns are currently being carried out to update the population on the scare, for example, it is common knowledge that animals like Chimpanzees, Gorillas and bats should be avoided as much as possible.
