EIFORCES graduates first Higher Diploma trainees

The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie chaired the ceremony on July 30, 2014.

The International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES) has awarded testimonials to the first batch of trainees of the institute’s Higher Diploma of Security.

The graduation ceremony in Yaounde yesterday July 30, 2014 was chaired by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Jean Baptiste Bokam, on behalf of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EIFORCES.

For 10 months, 12 senior Gendarme and Police officers from seven West and Central African Sub-regions acquired skills on strategic peacekeeping operations. And given the trend of events in Africa and the world marked by insecurity and instability prompted by terrorists groups, the learners are said to be better armed to face asymmetric operation.

Jean Baptiste Bokam underlined that the high-level training on strategic peacekeeping operations was coming at a time the region was in dire need of diversified training on peacekeeping.

Created on May 29, 2008 by a Presidential Decree, Bokam said EIFORCES was a manifestation of the Head of State resolute commitment to maintain peace in Cameroon, Africa and the world at large. The institution is therefore on an irreversible train to step up peacekeeping research and pedagogic training for interior and international utility.

While appreciating the management of EIFORCES, Bokam reiterated the fruitful partnership with the Economic Community for Central African States (ECCAS), the African Union, European Union and France.

The Chief of Service for Training at ECCAS-COPAX, Réal Romauld Mbida challenged graduates to remain Ambassadors of EIFORCES/ECCAS peacekeeping initiative wherever they find themselves. Mastering the tricks of conflict prevention, while counteracting attacks should therefore be their additional modus operandi, he noted. EIFORCES, he outlined, was noted for excellence in training on peacekeeping operations.

The Deputy Director General of the school, ‘Commisssaire Divisionaire’, Patrice Doum Ndongo, representing Brigadier General Mohamadou Hamadicko, recalled that EIFORCES since 2012 was charged to train Gendarmerie, police and civilians on peacekeeping operations. Out of the 12 graduates, Cameroonian born Jules Ndjeuha was happy recipient of the Excellence Prize, handed to him by Jean Baptiste Bokam.
