Douala roads getting highly deplorable

The Nyalla-Ndokotti axis, an alternate entry to Douala at the level of the weighing station in Yassa and the Carrefour Terminus Saint Michel posses a lot of trouble to drivers and people in the locality.

The situation which prevails in Douala 3rd has become a growing concern as the day goes by. Obviously, it is no longer easy for conductors to pick local people of the said area with ease.

For some time now, the Nyalla-Ndokoti axis, which served as an alternative entry to Douala at the level of the toll gate at Yassa and Terminus Saint Michel is becoming increasingly bad. There are endless traffic jams in these localities.

The reasons for this is the construction work that was carried out by the Chinese companies and Razel at the place. During the holding of the 10th "platform of actions to combat the urban disorder and the civil protection", held Thursday, 28 August 2014, the mayor of Douala 3th, MR. Kwapnang Job Théophile heckled the Delegate of the Government from the Urban Community of Douala in the light of the current situation, which appear to be very dangerous.

"We must acknowledge that the link Razel has with Yassa is because they have been tasked to fill an important gap as far as construction is concerned at this level was not done.

At Nyalla and Carrefour Saint Michel, the Chinese companies who do the pipes for the optical fiber, must also think of fixing the road", he said.

He revealed that, "prior to the construction, there was no problem of traffic congestion. It rather came to our notice late as we suddenly that the Chinese were digging trenches in the road. We were told that after this, they had to fill the holes, which they did not heed and now we are suffering here. You sometimes have to use three to four hours to convey the customers to their destination", lamented a driver.

A situation which bordered most people, “It is not normal, that a road which was in perfect condition has now been destroyed. The government must try to save the situation", said one driver. What all must know is that, the problem does not bother only the drivers but also commuters.
