The mayor of Douala V has cleared all the small businesses located on public property towards the Cité Sic and d’Ange Raphaël on Tuesday. The operation was part of the fight against urban disorder.

Despite the cries and resistance, the operation was carried out. Yesterday morning, the company's trucks for garbage collection in Douala gathered all the trash left by the traders after their eviction.

Jacob Kiari, second deputy mayor of the district town of Douala V, before the eviction that has started on Tuesday, held meetings with the occupants of the public property and an awareness campaign was organized with the laying of more than 20 banners and distribution of flyers.

In addition, the council had received numerous complaints from road users and local residents. In the neighborhoods mentioned above, abandoned kiosks had become a hideout for criminals. Many girls are assaulted, and rape cases have been reported.

It was also difficult for traffic to circulate because of the presence of pedestrians on the pavement. The snack sellers were also requested to vacate the frontage.

"We want the people of our town to include cleanliness in their ways, we are not there to enslave the population, but to serve, and in the best conditions. ome brandish the Otvp, yet it is only a document of the temporary occupation on the public road - not final. Look at the state of the University of Douala. Even Thursday's cleaning day is not respected. So we must do something," said the second deputy mayor.

The exercise includes, in the coming days, a descent toward the Ndokoti courthouse in Ndogbong, Makepe, general hospital etc.
