Douala: Three suspected terrorists arrested during mass

Three people, an old man and two youth, were arrested and presented as terrorists carrying explosives during mass at the Ancien Texaco Bepanda Omnisport Parish, according to Nouvelle Expression in its Monday, August 3, 2015 edition.

According to Jean Gros, a member of the parish, "A rumor went around the room indicating the presence of Boko Haram and in less than three minutes, the police arrived after being alerted by Christians who were suspicious and unsure about the attitude of these three people.”

The three alleged suspects who sat at the front seat were arrested and are being interrogated at the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI) number 2. One of the officials, reached by telephone by a reporter of the daily, stated “Currently, nothing indicates that they are terrorists although the case has not yet been concluded.”

Aside that it was a very hectic weekend in the city of Douala. Before the warning at Ancien Texaco Bepanda Omnisport Parish, the GMI number 2 made an extensive roundup of the police force in the fight against terrorism. This resulted in the seizure of weapons and bandits, suspected as highway threats, were arrested from Saturday night, August 1, to Sunday August 2, in Bonaloka.

Those arrested included women, men and even teenagers who were immediately taken to the premises of GMI in Bonanjo. Only those who have been formally identified regained their freedom and the suspects were thrown in a cell.
