Dla and Ydé require 250b FCFA for major construction

The Emergency Programme for rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure in Douala and Yaounde, the Cameroonian two largest metropolises, will require more than 250 billion CFA francs.

This plan, according to the minister of housing and urban development, concerns primarily the construction and rehabilitation of urban roads and social housing infrastructure. This is to improve the basic infrastructure, improve city traffic, drainage, urban electrification as well as the improvement of housing conditions.

This emergency plan decided by the Government should mobilize 925 billion CFA francs, and will also be assigned to the sectors of agriculture and livestock, energy, water and security.

Already in the early 2000s, Government had in connection with the construction and rehabilitation of road infrastructure and social housing, released 250 billion CFA francs, of which 150 billion CFA francs was for the economic metropolis of Douala and 100 billion CFA francs for Yaounde, the capital.
