José Graziano Da Silva, Director-General of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), arrives in Yaoundé on Thursday for a 2-day visit.
The FAO boss will sign partnership agreements with the Cameroonian government, according to sources.
José Graziano Da Silva’s visit comes at the moment where Cameroon, which is among the seven first African countries to have reached the target 1 of the objectives of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): - eradicate hunger which was implemented at the national level through the special programme for food security.
According to official sources, FAO will accompany the country, in the formulation of a new policy and projects related to food and agriculture. These projects, indicated the officials, aims to promote growth, decent jobs, and more globally, the improvement of the conditions of the lives of people in rural areas.
