Digital Education: State universities will soon be networked

A project for the interconnection of all State universities in Cameroon is in gestation.

The e-National Higher Education Network, estimated at 75 billion FCFA, was the subject of a hearing granted by the Minister of higher education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, Chancellor of academic orders to a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs, on Wednesday.

According to Zhao Dhezi, Director-General of the Sichuang Communication Telecom Construction Company, company responsible for implementation of this project: "the networking of universities in Cameroon aims to secure Cameroon international digital education standards.

Take for example, a teacher who is found in Minesup and teaches at the University of Yaoundé II can deliver his course from his office to his students in the amphitheatre and it will be seen in all the universities in Cameroon without having to move. And add that it is same for the Minister: the latter may also apply to all students in State universities from his cabinet.

According to Zhao Dhezi, it is a high technology. "This is a great leap forward. Cameroon will reach a level of technological development worthy of modern countries. The mission is for Cameroon to make points on this project for which a framework agreement of 75 billion loan was recently signed in China between the Chinese Minister of trade and the Minister of the economy of Cameroon", explained the spokesman of the Chinese delegation.

That is why; they came to Cameroon to meet with various stakeholders including the Prime Minister, head of Government, Minesup and the Minepat, responsible for the implementation of this vast operation of modernization of the system of higher education. Just the Decree from the head of State is left for to work begin.
