Denis Nkwebo wins "Mediations press trophies"

The president of the national Union of journalists in Cameroon and other winners of the 8th edition of the competition were awarded during the weekend in Douala.

Denis Nkwebo again features in the history of "Mediations press trophies". The Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Cameroonian daily Le Jour since May 8, 2015 is the first candidate to win on three occasions this journalism contest, ranked number one in Cameroon.

The prizes, Best Research and Best Print Reporting was won respectively in 2008 and 2012 by the acting president of the national Union of journalists of Cameroon (SNJC) and also at the 8th edition held Friday in Douala, he won the prize of the Best Press Reportage.

He was rewarded for the report entitled "a journey on the front line", made February 2015 in the region of the far North in war against the obscurantist sect Boko Haram.

Rather humble despite his performance, the child of Balengou (Western region) declared that he does not consider himself as someone exceptional.

"I'm a journalist who writes continuously on research and reports. This is what ensures that in one way or another I will win a prize. I am a press reporter who will remain in the press. If there are prizes to be won, I'm sure I'll win them because I will be in the press."

Denis Nkwebo is a regular at the laurels. He has won competitions on both the national and international level. The trade unionist journalist specializes in coverage of the conflict zones. Before his February trip, he had already been in the far North on several occasions and in the region of East in prey to incursions of Central African armed groups.
