Defense Ministry reacts after double attack

Didier Badjeck Didier Badjeck

Colonel Didier Badjeck, head of the Communications Department at the Ministry of Defense, has confirmed the double suicide attack in Kerewa.

However, he pointed out that the terrorists struck in a location that proves that the Cameroonian territory is secured by the Cameroonian defense forces, notwithstanding the recorded drama this morning.

"Having found that Cameroon is guarded by our valiant soldiers; terrorists want to make an impression by hitting at border posts. Unfortunately, they cowardly murdered innocent people," said Colonel Didier Badjeck, reached on phone by Cameroon-info.Net.

He stated that the results on the double attack which before occurred near a market and at a BIR infirmary at Kerawa will be announced later. But unofficial sources disclosed that there were about 35 dead and 115 wounded.

This is the seventh suicide bomber who blew himself up in the Far North Region, since Cameroon declared war on Boko Haram 16 months ago. Compared to the 5 previous suicide bombings, both attacks this morning seem to have the biggest toll.
