Corruption - Consupe, Anif Enter Partnership

The two public structures yesterday June 28, 2012 signed an agreement to strengthen the fight.

Workers who siphon funds meant for the execution of State projects to benefit the people will have to face the strong arm of the law. The government of Cameroon through the Supreme State Audit Office (CONSUPE) yesterday June 28 signed an agreement with its national partner, the National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF) to carve out better ways of ameliorating the war on corruption.

"We are working to ensure that we improve and reinforce the capacities of our personnel so as to achieve optimal results in the fight against the misappropriation of State funds," the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit, Henri Eyebe Ayissi stressed. The need to share information on the misappropriation of State funds remains the contours of the agreement.

The Minister also emphasised that the partnership will go a long way to bring better synergy in attaining set goals in the fight against corruption; a fight that President Paul Biya is deeply concerned about. The platform of collaboration with ANIF, represented at the event by its Director General, Hubert Ndé Sambone, equally seeks to ameliorate the quality and method of investigations on corrupt practices and the exchange of vital documents that take the fight forward to spare the country of bad reputation in the sector.

The dual purpose event also saw the installation of some members of the team put in place to ensure that stolen money is recovered from sanctioned managers. The 12 members from the Ministries of Finance, Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, the General Delegation for National Security and CONSUPE, were challenged to bury their hearts in the fight.
