Construction of the Cameroon-Congo Interstate University launched

Work has begun on Cameroon-Congo Interstate university which was launched on December 21, 2012 by Presidents Paul Biya and Denis Sassou Nguesso, to provide Central Africa with a "university of excellence in technology-oriented."

Present at the official launching ceremony of the construction work of this university was Prof. Sorin Marcel Ndzodo, head of Ministry of Higher Education (Minesup), who told the press that "the two leaders understood that it is good to build stronger universities in Africa that can compete internationally, a federation of energy is essential."

The institution which will be built on two sites in the two border cities of Sangmélima in Cameroon and Ouesso in Congo will be completed in 24 months.

The work of leveling over two hectares of the site began on Monday, August 17, 2015 to accommodate the first building. It will be a 5 storey-building. The building will be constructed to accommodate an administrative block, classrooms, two libraries and “ultra-modern" amenities.

In the meantime, the College of Notre Dame in Sangmélima will provisionally host the first students of the Cameroon-Congo Interstate University enrolled in Information Technology and Communication (ICT) in October 2015.
