Communique: Camrail explain cause of fire outbreak

As it was announced on Tuesday evening, fire broke out in a passenger train owned by Camrail Company which was travelling from Yaoundé to Douala.

This incident occurred at a crossing level near the city of Eséka in the central region. Camrail security teams, the military and local residents struggled to put out the fire but eventually, the fire was quenched.

The Directorate General of Camrail, signed a communiqué explaining the causes of this incident and the measures taken to prevent similar incidents from happening.

The communiqué reads as follows;

The Directorate General of CAMRAIL acknowledge that there was a fire outbreak in one of their InterCity trains bearing the code 152 in Douala.

Indeed, flames of fire were found on the truck (a wheeled wagon or trolley) of the train at the crossing near Eséka. Security teams managed to quench the flames with fire extinguishers.

Elements of the rapid intervention battalion and local residents of the rail came around to support the teams of CAMRAIL. Immediately, the fire was brought under control. The train was sent for check up in the Central workshops of Bassa in Douala.

Camrail sends to its customers their sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

They promised to seriously pursue measures put in place to ensure the safety of railway traffic.
