Colonel Mvondo Menyengue resumes command of 101 airbase in Yaoundé

On Wednesday at the Arian Base 101 in Yaoundé, Defense Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o in a masterful tone told the new commander "Colonel Alfred Mvondo Menyengue, take command!" In a vigorous handshake, the Mindef conveyed his warm congratulations to the promoted officer in the high confidence of the head of state.

For officers, NCOs and soldiers of rank, the Mindef, in the ritual of taking command, prescribed "obedience in all for the good of the service in compliance with the laws of the Republic."

Under the rhythm of the music of the national gendarmerie, the new commander of the Air Base took his salute signifying an act of command. A section of the gendarmerie elements, the two sections of the army, that of the air force, navy and firefighters, respectively, with a square of the flag and his guard were mobilized.

Speaking to the press after his installation, Colonel Mvondo Menyengue acknowledged having full awareness of security challenges that currently affects the defense forces. "The air base is a base of support to other external training, in terms of logistics, maintenance and support for special missions. We intend to have all employees in full duty," he explained.

On the question of the safety of food stored at the base for the forces at the front and people in distress, Colonel Mvondo Menyengue reassured that security measures will be strengthened for a harmonious distribution to beneficiaries.

Appointed on May 12 by a decree of the Head of State, Colonel Alfred Mvondo Menyengue is the first engineer to head Air Base 101 of Yaounde. He replaces Colonel Martin Owona.
