Collapsed Pichoumba Bridge leaves inhabitants stranded

From Poli, the head of Department of Faro in Garoua has been in a real ordeal for a few days now and as a result of the fact that the Pichoumba Bridge was completely washed away by the waters.

As a result of this, people as well as goods depend on manual means "big arm" to transport them across either on their backs or shoulders.

However, as at now, no vehicle from Garoua can reach the city of Poli. The Secretary of State in charge of the Veterans Affairs, Koumpa Issa, who left Yaoundé to celebrate Ramadan with his family the village was stuck at Poli, and had to leave his village by canoe.

Inhabitants of the area have to depend on men who offer to carry then on their shoulder for a cost of 500frs, while big people and who weigh more than the normal pay up to 1000 FCFA.

According to the Regional Director of Aes-Sonel, Robert Chauffeur Malli, "electrical services will be disturbanced in the town of Poli until the bridge is fixed”.

Rebuilt in 2007 after being swept away by the waters, the Pinchoumba Bridge has been in place for 7 years. This calls into question the quality of the work carried out as well as the objectivity of various monitoring missions in Cameroon.
