Cmr'nian army bombs Nig. town hosting BH militants

The Cameroonian army bombed on Wednesday evening, a site occupied by Boko Haram Islamists in the Nigerian town of Gamboru, border with the far north of Cameroon.

"Our army bombed a Boko Haram camp at Gamboru", said a local security source speaking on condition of anonymity. "Our military bombarded their hideouts in the vicinity of the border," confirmed a police officer of the city. "They abandoned houses they have occupied since their entry in Gamboru. We believe that they still control the town since they are numerous and are not grouped in the same place", he said.

According to this police officer, "calmness" has prevailed since Wednesday night in Fotokol where populations lived in panic since the Islamists took control of the nearby Nigerian city.

"The night was calm, with only a few dogs barking and calls to prayer at the mosques of the city", he recounted. The same source indicated that, the Nigerian soldiers who deserted Gamboru remained Thursday at Fotokol where thousands of Nigerian civilians were also sheltering in the last 72 hours.
