Civil service discipline to be strengthened in 2015

The Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, defended the budget for 2015 at the National Assembly on December 4, 2014.

In order to decentralise the taking of disciplinary measures against recalcitrant civil servants, the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, will in 2015 ensure the effective takeoff of recently created Regional Disciplinary Boards.

Speaking to the media on December 4, 2014, after defending the ministry’s budget for the coming year, Minister Ange Michel Angouing, said measures will be taken to encourage State employees to take up posting or transfers to remote areas, especially in the Bakassi Peninsula in the South West Region.

With an increment of FCFA 1.2 billion, next year’s draft budget stands at FCFA 13.4 billion – FCFA 12.2 billion for recurrent expenditure and FCFA 1.2 billion for investments.

According to the document, efforts will be stepped up to sanitise the State personnel data base, while career management instruments will be reviewed. On the other hand, the optical fibre network will be extended to regional offices to facilitate work, while more assistance will be offered to other ministries in implementing reforms on the devolution of the management of personnel.

Meanwhile, construction will continue on the Centre, North West and Littoral Regional Delegation buildings in the coming year.
