Chinese ex-hostages want to resume work after their release

Chinese ex-hostages released last weekend by the Islamist sect Boko Haram, yesterday announced their intention to resume work on the construction site at the Mora-Dabanga segment in the far north of the country.

The announcement of the resumption of work was made last night by Patrice Amba Salla, Cameroonian public works Minister on the airwaves of publicly owned media.

The Chinese have posed preconditions, before they begin work. According to the Government, these conditions seem fair, "the first condition is already completely satisfied. All 10 hostages are already freed and unharmed.

The 2nd condition is that the monitoring mission which gave up work because of insecurity should have their contract terminated.

Another mission of control is being be contractualised and the State of Cameroon has already established a security apparatus for work to be continued on this corridor safely," the minister revealed.
