Chinese Ambassador invites the press to diffuse "messages of peace and development"

Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua, invited the local press Tuesday to spread "messages of peace and development", on the occasion of the commemoration this year of the 70th anniversary of the victory of China after 14 years of Japanese occupation and the end of the second world war.

"The year 2015 is remarkable in the historical sense, because this year marks the 70th anniversary of the anti-fascist war victory," said the Chinese diplomat in his speech during the 2015 evening of friendship with the press which brought together a large number of Cameroonian professionals in the premises of the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde.

After this war, the Chinese people, he said, were left with painful memories. Main Eastern theater, the country paid a heavy price of 35 million deaths as a sacrifice to a major contribution to the victory, he said. "Between 1931 and 1945, during its invasion in China, the Japan militarist committed number of atrocities including the massacre of more than three hundred thousand people to Nianjing, which is the hometown of my wife."

Even then, the Chinese people had lived the nightmare of the use by his invader of chemical and bacteriological weapons. What bring the diplomat hoped that all countries in the world take the opportunity of the commemoration of these sad events this year "to review the history and learn the lessons, to work together for a better future of humanity and a world of lasting peace and prosperity".

"To this end, countries, including China, have organized or will organize remembrance ceremonies to celebrate the victory of humanity against the fascists and militarists", he said, inviting the Cameroonian media to disseminate, as widely as possible, "the message of peace and development".

This is the meaning given to the missions of the Chinese army in DR Congo, in Liberia, in Mali, Sudan, South Sudan within the blue helmets of the United Nations, in the Gulf of Aden "to protect commercial fleets against the pirates, still in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone" for the fight against the Ebola epidemic". For him, "the China-Africa relationship is an example of equality, cooperation and solidarity between States. Cameroon is part of our partners in Africa".

"China hopes that Cameroon will be able to create a still more favorable investment environment, which is essential in all case to attract foreign investors", he said. The "evening of friendship with the press" is a moment of conviviality organized by the Embassy of China in Yaounde for years, to maintain a constructive dialogue with the men and women of the Cameroonian media.
