Chantal Biya enjoys successful stay in Washington

With a new address book opened, and new causes to support, the first lady leaves Washington with many openings for her charitable works. Mrs Chantal Biya took part along side other African first ladies, last Wednesday, in a sponsored Symposium organized by the first lady of the US Michelle Obama in partnership with Laura Bush.

The Cameroonian first lady, arrived in the company of Ms. Céline Ngoh Ngoh in this forum held throughout the day at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Charitable and humanitarian actions for health as well as the education of girls and women, inter alia was discussed during this symposium.

Indeed, her commitment to the fight against disease and suffering relatively to this segment of the population was very much appreciated. She had engaged in activities to curb maternal and child mortality, HIV/AIDS, diarrhoea rotavirus, and she shares in the support of the education of the girl child.

Like other first African ladies engaged in the social field, the Goodwill Ambassador of Unesco was congratulated for her work which has significantly impacted the life of the Cameroonian people.

At the end of the formal part devoted to exchanges on the scope of investment in education, the health of girls and women, as well as the public-private partnership, free field was left for participants to make beneficial contacts.

It should be noted that many foundations, non-governmental not-for-profit and other companies working in the fields related to women and girls in Africa were present at this meeting. Most of them have huge funds and are looking for personalities and strong institutions capable of bringing their projects or supporting various humanitarian causes.
