Challenges faced by Police Chiefs of Central Africa

The Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, chaired Thursday on behalf of the head of state, the closing ceremony of the workshop of the 16th session of the Committee of Chiefs of Police of Central Africa (CAPCCO).

Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh urged them to implement their know-how and long experience in the field of internal security to "produce concerted and innovative solutions to combat various forms of crime emerging in Central Africa".

According to the government daily, Cameroon Tribune on newsstands this Friday, one of the emerging forms of crime is terrorism. Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has indeed indicated that the most visible illustration of this threat is terrorist sect Boko Haram which multiplies in certain member countries of CAPCCO, assassinations, kidnappings, suicide bombings and other abuses. Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has also called for a minute of silence in memory of victims of the Islamic sect actions.

In the columns of the newspaper, we learn that the CAPCCO contribution in the fight against transnational crime which has also resulted, among others, by the increase in police operations against international traffic of vehicles with more 300 stolen vehicles worldwide seized. Other operations resulted in the seizure of tons of illicit drugs, as we witnessed the dismantling of several drug trafficking networks.

In its new duties, the CAPCCO can count on the support of the International Criminal Police Organization, ICPO Interpol, as stated by the Secretary General of the representative of the institution.

The ceremony was primarily an opportunity to see the handover between outgoing President of CAPCCO, General Police Officer 2nd Class Jean François Ndengue, general manager of the Congolese police and his successor, Martin Mbarga Nguele, Delegate General National Security of Cameroon.
