Cerac supports the disabled in Mefou and Akono

The association founded by the first lady, Chantal Biya, extended courtesies to the vulnerable and disabled at Bitok on Thursday. It was a day of celebration for the vulnerable and disabled persons in the Department of Mefou and Akono, central region as they were visited by the circle of friends of Cameroon (Cerac).

The members of the association, led by Ms. Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, head of the delegation, arrived at Bitok, with many gifts including tricycles, prostheses, English cannes, white canes, foodstuffs, clothing, farm equipment including gins, presses oil, sprayers, sprinklers, water pumps, chain saws, picks, machetes and other cleaning products.

These set of donations were given to hundreds of people with various disabilities in Bitok, Akono, Mbankomo et Ngoumou, the four boroughs of the Department.

Other people from various localities came to the premises to take part in the ceremony. For this charity, the Mayor of the commune, Ms. Henriette Mvondo, the spokesman for the beneficiaries, Jean Fouda, the delegate of the Ministry of Social Affairs, me Crescence Tsala Mballa said that the only thing they had to say on this day was, thank you!

"Mrs. Chantal Biya sent Cerac to persons with disabilities, hosted by its legendary spirit of solidarity and sharing. Your Mum instructed me to tell you the importance she attaches to your well-being and your vitality.

She sent you donations to enable you to seize opportunities that are available to improve your living conditions, for your empowerment and your socio-economic reintegration.

There are among you persons who daily demonstrate their determination to take themselves in hand and to work hard to succeed. It is a good example to follow," explained Ms. Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, Chairman of the delegation of Cerac.

Cerac has reserved the best for the end: the special gift of Mrs. Chantal Biya for persons with disabilities. They included; 10 computers, two printers, a scanner and 200 computer books. These gifts are intended to aid recipients to learn the new and emerging trends in the area of information and communication technologies.
