Cavaye Yeguie Djibril returns from Côte d’Ivoire

The President of the National Assembly of Cameroon Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has returned to Cameroon after a five-day visit to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Honourable Djibril who led a Cameroon delegation received the invitation from the President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire Guillaume Soro.

The reason for the visit was to discuss on a meeting with the Bureau of the National Assembly of Cote d'Ivoire, the External Relations Commission and to strengthen the parliamentary friendship group between the two countries.

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril also addressed the Ivorian MPs during a plenary session organized as part of the first ordinary session of the National Assembly of Cote d'Ivoire.

He took the opportunity to place his visit under the symbol of consolidation and global interparliamentary relations between the two institutions.

“Your visit to Cameroon has opened new perspectives in bilateral relations between our two countries", he stressed.

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril thanked his Ivorian counterpart for the role Ivory Coast played in favor of Cameroon for the war against the Islamist sect Boko Haram.

“Faced with the challenges of the history of our economic clusters, security and stability of our countries and the fight against terrorism and cross-border crime, no African country can now go at it alone”, he indicated.

One of the important points of this visit was the President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara speech given to the Cameroonian delegation on April 30.

Besides the President of the National Assembly, members of the alliance group between Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire, in the persons of Brigitte Mebande, Bonaventure Mvondo Assam, Ngahane, Paul Nji Tumasang and two traditional chiefs of the Southern Regions and Far North of Cameroon were present.
