The arrival of the US military to support the Cameroonian army has not scared the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, whose suspected members multiply attacks in the region of the Far North of Cameroon for the past two years.

On Saturday night, October 17, Cameroonian soldiers deployed at Wambeché, a village in Mayo-Sava department, fell into an ambush by suspected members of Boko Haram.

During clashes between the defense forces and insurgents, Captain Robert Djinebo was killed. The latter, only 34 years old, was the commander of a BIR sector (Rapid Intervention Battalion) engaged in the war against Boko Haram.

A former fighter in the Bakassi war, the young officer was known for his bravery like his colleague in the afterlife, Captain Elvis Matute Mbène, who died seven months ago in almost the same circumstances in Far North.

"My young Robert Djinebo, thou hast gone to join the list of martyrs of the war against Boko Haram, your bravery and courage opens the paths of paradise where Elvis Mbene is waiting for you to form the already large army of God against evil ... I wish you safe journey and transmit to all the other fallen comrades in this war that you are not left out for nothing. We will continue the struggle ...," written as a tribute by Alain Ndongo, a relative of the deceased.

"Roberto you fought a good fight, and thou hast gone arms in hand. Your bravery and your courage remains an inspiration for the continuation of this war. We will continue this war in the same spirit without ever backing out as you always say. Rest in peace MAYO REY. Rest in peace JACK BOEUR," adds soldier Pascal Tcheino.

Politicians who knew Captain Robert Djinebo, said he was a brave soldier. "He welcomed me some months ago in Maroua, he overwhelmed me. He was a nice man, soldier by vocation who spoke to me of his little girl who must have been 2 or 3 years old. The pain of his death is evident," reflects the politician Sosthène Vincent Fouda.
