Candidates for the BTS in confusion

BTS lists BTS lists

Only four days to the Brevet de technicien supérieur (BTS) there is confusion as some candidates do not see their names on the list at examination centers.

In a recent statement made by Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of Higher Education, students were required to verify their names from the list at their various examination centers at Bandjoun, Douala, Garoua, Ngaoundere, Ebolowa, Kumba, Abong -Mbang and Yaoundé.

At the Siantou Institute for instance, applicants of the BTS have been on the premises since Wednesday morning. With concerns written on their faces, the candidates looked through the list for their names and that of their friends. They smile with content immediately they find their names.

"When you have been trained for 2 years, it would be sad to find out few days before the exam that your name is not on the list”, said Melodie Assena who is also a candidate.

Besides the names of many of the candidates not included in the final list, it was noted that they were dismissed for incomplete or non-conforming diplomas.

Fortunately, it was communicated that they still had a chance following a press release that stated that, "the candidates whose names appear on the reject list should assemble at the disputes hall where an evidence file will be sent to the secretariat of their sub-center.”

At the Samba Institute, the atmosphere was rather calm. The number of candidates for the consultation lists was just a few.

According to Marie-Noël Mbida, Head of BTS and PAME, the establishment is not under an examination center. The institution has a hundred candidates, but they are students of either Siantou Institute or the Matamfen Institute.

Provisional lists were posted in late April and our source said “almost all the candidates already know where they were to assemble”.

The BTS practical tests will also take place from Tuesday June 3 to Saturday June 9 while the written tests will be from June 15 to June 20. Officials refused to give more information on the issue.
