Cameroonians prepare to commemorate Commonwealth Day

Activities are taking place nationwide ahead of the commemoration of the Commonwealth Day under the theme “A young Commonwealth.”

The Commonwealth day shall be observed in Cameroon this year on Thursday 12th March 2015.

In Yaounde, the celebration shall be chaired by the Secretary General in the Ministry of External Relations, Felix Mbayu on behalf of the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth.

Minister Felix Mbayu in an interview over the local press noted that the youth are at the centre of the Commonwealth.

The Minister explained that they make up a great proportion of the population of many countries hence their problems like youth employment and their involvement in decision-making should not be undermined.

The Commonwealth Day is this 2015, recognising the accomplishments of young people.

This year’s observance has been shifted from the usual second Monday of March to a Thursday due to several activities taking place nationwide at the start of the week.
