Cameroonian woman elected judge at ACHPR, Tanzania

A Cameroonian super-scale Magistrate has been elected Judge at the African Court for Human and People’s Rights Court, ACHPR, based in Arusha Tanzania for a 6 year mandate.

Madame Suzanne Mengue Ntyam Ondo was elected at the 27th African Union Conference that took Place in Kigali, Rwanda from 10-18 July 2016.

The legal luminary, who is also adviser at the Cameroon Supreme Court, took her oath of office on September 5 2016 after which she met with the Cameroonian community in Arusha Tanzania.

After graduating from the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM in 1982, she worked as deputy State Counsel in Sangmelima and Douala from 1982-1984 and 1984 -1997 respectively.

She was then appointed adviser at the Littoral Court of Appeal between 1987-1990. She held a similar position in the Center Region and was later appointed President of the Yaounde Court of First Instance.

She was later promoted to post of VP at the Center Region’s Appeal Court between 1992 and 1998 where she became Adviser at the Supreme Court of Cameroon. It was in 2010 that she became President of the Administrative Contracts Division of the Supreme Court.

Since 2015, she is chairing the Commercial section of the Supreme Court. She moved to Arusha in 2016.
