Cameroon takes exceptional measures for travelers

"The Cameroonian Minister of transport, Robert Nkili, has just ordered" for emergency measures to be taken in the transport sector (air, maritime and rail) to guard against insecurity in this sector ", reported a statement made public on Wednesday.

This is due to the current climate characterized by terrorist threats. This statement did not specify the type of new measures to which travelers can expect, but he said they "will be lifted as soon as such threats have been curtailed”.

According to sources, measures should concern the multiplication and the hardening of roadside and border checks.

This announcement comes while panic seems to gain certain Western chancelleries accredited to Cameroon, including France which has just recommended its nationals residing in the country to leave the northern regions plagued by abuses of the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram.
