Ex-close collaborator of Paul Biya would be discharged from hospital on Tuesday according to one of his relatives. But according to the Committee in support of political prisoners in France Cameroon, lobbying will continue so that Marafa Hamidou Yaya can be taken abroad.
Recently there has been no trace of gendarmes at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire, CHU, unlike the previous days that entry was prohibited at this hospital institute where the former minister of territorial administration, Marafa Hamidou Yaya was admitted.
According to Marafa’s family relatives that were contacted, ex-close collaborator of Paul Biya would have returned to his cell at the Secretariat of State for defence (SED), the national gendarmerie headquarters, August 12, "Marafa was actually released recently at his request, for fear of catching a disease worse than that which he already suffers under the hygienic conditions of CHU", according to our source.
Being a victim of discomfort in his cell, Marafa was being hospitalized at CHU for the second time. Fearing a new relapse, the Committee for the liberation of political prisoners in Cameroon (Cl2p), created in France in may, intends to take advantage of the presence of Paul Biya in France for the commemoration of the liberation of Provence to urge the French authorities to utilize this opportunity to plead to the clemency of the leader of the Cameroonian State on the need to allow the transfer of Marafa Hamidou Yaya abroad.
Arrested on 16 April 2012 for intellectual complicity for the “misappropriation of public funds", the former Minister of Territorial Administration and former Secretary general to the Presidency, Marafa Hamidou Yaya was sentenced a few months later to 25 years in prison for "intellectual complicity in the embezzlement of funds"
