Cameroon now has an Institute of Nautical Arts and Fishing

A decree of the President of the Republic released on the evening of August 12, 2015 announced the creation in Buea in the South West Region, an Institute of Arts and Trades in water fishing.

This vocational and technical public institution of higher education is under the supervision of the Ministries in charge of fisheries (technical), Higher Education (academic) and Finance (financial).

This establishment, with financial autonomy is for technical and vocational training, applied research and development support in the field of fisheries. It will provide initial training, an upper secondary education in the field of fishing and ensure the continuous supervision thereto.

This institute is also supposed to provide support to the development of industries and other operators in the field of fisheries. The project was announced by the Head of State, at the opening of Comice agropastoral show in Ebolowa. It has received support from the Spanish government with the sum of FCFA 9 billion.
