Cameroon heads the General Secretariat of Supreme Audit Institutions

Henri Ayissi Eyebe took office on Monday in Yaounde, with the aim of giving new face to the African organization.

Solemn, historic and beneficial, the installation and the inauguration of the new officers of the General Secretariat of the African Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) was held on Monday in Yaounde, in the premises of Higher State Control (Consupe).

Unanimously appointed last November at the General Assembly of the organization in Egypt, Cameroon will house the headquarters and head the General Secretariat for nine years renewable. Therefore, the head of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Cameroon (the Minister for the Presidency of the Republic, in charge of Higher State Control) becomes SG.

Yesterday was the day activities were launched for the structure and installation of Bureau officials appointed by the SG. It is actually beneficial to Cameroon and the continent because "it is the citizens who will benefit from better functioning of the SAI of public finances of the country. For AFROSAI aims to establish a permanent exchange of experiences among its members and the capacity of the latter, "said May Mahnken, businessman in charge of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cameroon.

This is history because " Higher State Control, became the third institution to take responsibility for SG AFROSAI since its creation in 1976, after Togo (1976-2005) and Libya (2005 to 2012)," noted Henri Ayissi Eyebe. This is, for AFROSAI, a return on its baptismal font as it is in Yaoundé in 1976 that the organization was born.

Finally, there was a solemn moment as he saw the participation of several foreign delegations and members of the Cameroon government, an opportunity for Henri Ayissi Eyebe to make a nod to the Minister of Lands, Land Registry and Land Affairs, Jacqueline Kung à Bessike, to help find a site for the new headquarters.

He also appealed to the Ministry of Finance, for the logistic support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to facilitate contacts with external partners.

To strengthen the political commitment at the continental level by President Paul Biya, supreme authority of Higher State Control is to fully assume responsibilities as SG for countries of AFROSAI.
