"Cameroon has no recorded case of Ebola Virus"

According to the Minister of Public health, André Mama Fouda, since the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa, Cameroon has so far recorded no case of the virus within the territory.

"With regard to our country, to date, no suspected case has been declared in Cameroon", said the Cameroonian Minister in a country already hit by other epidemics such as cholera and polio and where there the rampant consumption of game including some species as monkeys tipped to be the vectors of transmission.

Also, the Minister of public health announced a response plan with the support of international partners, including the World Health (WHO) Organization.

"Surveillance has been strengthened in all border health districts, particularly at the health districts at border posts, airports and ports. This monitoring is part of a network of partnership and multiform exchanges involving not only countries facing the epidemic, but also all other African countries particularly vulnerable", he also said.

Ranked "global health emergency" by the WHO, the Ebola disease is characterized by a sudden onset fever, intense weakness, myalgia, headache, and irritation of the throat. The symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash and, in some, internal and external bleeding.

This disease is spread by transmission in communities through person-to-person transmission as a result of direct contact (skin injured or mucous membranes) with blood, secretions, organs or biological fluids of infected people, or indirect through environments contact contaminated by this type of liquids.
